Keeping "down there" fresh and clean

Let me start out with a disclaimer. On this blog, we believe that there is no such thing as TMI. That's what makes this blog such a wonderful place. You can ask anything and we will answer, and we'll discuss any topic! Even if you might think it's "awkward", there are so many girls who have the same questions as you, and we're here to help. However, if you don't like reading about the details of girly stuff, or if you get grossed out by that kind of thing, this might not be the post for you.

Today I'm going to be talking about cleansing yourself "down there". That's right, down THERE. Half the people reading this have probably left already due to the awkward nature of the post, but for those of you who will stick around, let's get started.

Cleaning yourself down there is important when you're a girl, especially when you have your period. You don't want things to get sticky and gross, and you want to stay smelling fresh and feeling clean too. But what do you use? Lots of products that clean the inside of you (like douches) can throw off the natural balance of your body or cause harmful infections. Here are some products that work for me.

Always Wipes-to-Go
These wipes come individually wrapped so you can always have one in your purse. They are flushable and lightly scented. These work great and help you to feel fresh without causing irritation. You can find them at Target, Wal-Mart, or drugstores for under $5.

Summer's Eve also sells feminine wipes if you prefer that brand. They are made for sensitive skin, dermatologist & gynecologist tested, and they're designed to wipe away odor-causing bacteria. You can use them during your period, after a workout or a long car ride, or anytime when you need to feel a little fresher! Again, you can find this anywhere in the feminine-products aisle, for under $5.
So the wipes are great for on the go use. How about when you're in the shower? I have been using special feminine washes for awhile now when I'm in the shower. I feel like they're more gentle and do a better job. They are a gel formula, like shower gels that you use on the rest of your body. I have always used the Summer's Eve brand for sensitive skin. They don't dry your skin (like soap does), and are pH balanced to work with your body's natural chemistry. And again, it's under $5, so it won't break the bank.
I hope this tip has helped you out if you had questions about keeping your feminine parts clean. It's an important part of your hygiene routine, and there are plenty of different products designed to help you feel fresh and clean all month long.
